DAWSON CREEK, Milepost O of the Alaska Highway. We're very excited to see this landmark and continue our Alaskan Journey. Another cold day, another Walmart Parking Lot, and more fun. Toured the museum at the visitor center. Its filled with old train items and a replica of a house from the 40's. memories of my grandmother's attic.

Another Chainsaw carving from Chedwynd titled "Moose". Very appropriate as we saw our first real moose of this trip today outside of Fort St John. Quite a sight.

Chetwynd, the home of chain saw carvings. There are over 80 carvings throughout town, all completed with just the use of a chainsaw. An annual event brings contestants from around the world to make these beautiful creations. Yes, I think we took pics of all of them. A great day of travel. Saw a little bear cub by the side of the road. A very young one and then later a little fawn, she still had her spots.

"Late for dinner" is the title of this fishing bear.

Bridge Lake British Columbia: Pic of our friends John and Nicole and their two pups: Snickers and Nibs. We hiked to these double falls to enjoy the sight.

A hike to Deception falls. What a treat. As you stare into the falls, the

water actually looks like its running up hill.

View from John and Nicole's cottage. The lake view is oh so relaxing. They have acres of green meadows, aspen and lake front property. A slice of heaven.

A day of riding ATV's in the back country with John and Nicole. and a group of their friends. Beautiful tall pines and meadows. OOOOH!! Felt like I'd been on a horse all day., And yes, we're in our ski parkas to stay warm.

Williams Lake Tourism discovery Center. This is the ideal model of travel. Small vehicle with all sporting gear stacked up . The tent is on top. Now that is one way to travel.

Darn, pics aren't downloading to blogsite so sad as we've been having such fun. Spent 6 days with John and Nicole Mortimer, Canadian friends we met at Lake Havasu. They are wonderful tour guides and graciously took us around their beautiful lakes, forests and hiking trails. Spent one day touring back country on their ATVs with a group of their friends. John and Nicole are remodeling their lakeside cottage at Bridge Lake so Dick was able to lend a hand and help John redo some decking. Hiking was a thrill and a challenge..met a black bear one day. Thank goodness he was going the other way. It was a glorious 6 days, sharing stories, dinners and wine.

Then on to Prince George and Chetwynd, the town know for Chainsaw carvings. Over 80 huge pieces displayed throughout the town.

Tonight we're in Dawson Creek Mile O of the Alaskan Highway. Pictures are worth a thousand words so until next time....

We awoke this morning to a wonderful

winter wonderland. Moe's ramp was like a bobsled ride.

We enjoyed the beauty of fresh fallen snow as we traveled

from Lake Louise to Salmon Arm.

The day turned gorgeous, we had

waterfalls, lakes, streams, and rivers accompanied

by trains throughout our 200 miles of travel.

Salmon Arm is warm with lilacs, iris, and

poppies in bloom. We're camped by a creek

in a green meadow. Quite a change from our

snowy morning.

Dick at Sunshine. This area has grown and

the staff tell us they will build a whole new

lodge at this site.

Lake Louise. Yes, still in the Parka.

We had thought about kayaking here

but alas, unless we had an ice pick, we

would not be going anywhere.

Dick and I enjoyed the Chateau Lake Louise.

With wonderful harp music, a great view, and

a cosmo. What could be better.

Enjoying our trip to Banff in the middle of the Canadian Rockies. Oh the happy ski memories. This quiet little village has turned into a bustling tourist town. This pic is of the Columbia River .

Ah, a little extra water so Dick is doing due diligence in keeping our vehicles spick and span. Not an easy task with the daily downpour of rain, sleet or snow. Loving life.
