Our friendly bald eagle appears out of nowhere for a visit. He just hangs around and poses for us.

A ferry trip to Seldovia a quaint little fishing village and tourist attraction. 265 residents here. Travel around town is easy on the boardwalks and hiking trails out to see the salmon swimming upstream , the puffins, and sea otters.

Loved the little houses set up on the pilings. Yes this is a real lived in home.

Dick with his bud the EAGLE. Seldovia has a wood carving event each Memorial Day weekend. The carvings are displayed throughout the village.

Camped a night at Deep Creek. Tractors pull boats in and out of the ocean waters. There were 105 trailers on the beach, lots of work for those old John Deere tractors.

Our winter clothes are getting lots of use. Long Johns, hat, gloves ....all the layers to keep warm. Red boots getting lots of use.

We're still here.... Great views and the resident eagle flies in to our front yard everyday. He is something special to watch.

Fresh peonies and lots of nice produce. We're enjoying.

Another fishing day reaps great rewards.

No comment on the bad hair day but check out the red boots. They've kept my feet dry while fishing and picking up mussels. Who knew 1/2 a bucket of mussels would take hours to clean... They are yummy, though.

We now have 51 lbs of halibut. Neighbors brought us salmon last night so we had what Dick calls his trifecta dinner: salmon, halibut and mussels. The smiles tell it all.

We came home with our limit of

2 fish each and a total of 32 lbs of

filets. Our freezer is full and we've

just begun to fish.....

Can't believe this view. It seems more like a winter ski

picture than July. Locals tell us this is an unusual

cool summer. 52 degrees out this morning.

Dick and I were camped at Resurrection Trail Head

about 120 miles from Homer, when it felt like someone was

attempting to pick up and shake the RV. We stared at each other...checked out our surroundings and found nothing. We

found out the next day that Anchorage had an earthquake.

Flowers in Anchorage are amazing.

in the background. Quite a site.

Our campground at South Rolly Lake. Small lakes everywhere. Great for kayaking and hiking. We enjoyed staying here for 5 nights over the 4th of July

Another view from our campsite. Can't tell whether its day or night. We've had overcast days and sunlight until after midnight, then a couple hours of darkness and the sun is up by 3 am. Can't get use to these long nights.

We're at Wasilla in the Walmart campground parked next to our friends Richard and Carol from Phoenix. Strangers in the night meet at Walmart...We knew they were traveling but hadn't known their schedule till the Walmart parking lot encounter. Enjoyed sharing travel experiences and plans for the coming weeks

Denali National Park about 6 million acres

We took the 11 hour roundtrip bus tour in to WonderLake. What a beautiful day. Some rain and a little overcast but a great day

to see critters.

We saw 8 caribou this day. These guys must have just had lunch as they were quite lazy.

A total of 7 grizzly bears. This mom was with her two cubs

romping in the meadow.

Mr moose was one of the nine we saw throughout the day.

The old grey wolf was collared for tracking purposes. We saw 5 wolves, one mom with her 3 pups. In addition 25 doll sheep, one red fox, one loon and in excess of 150 mosquitos.

This is the view from our campsite outside Denali Park. We could watch rafters as they paddled down the river and through a set of rapids. Good entertainment.

Mt McKinley in all its glory. The highest peak in North America at 20,320 feet. Nearly a thousand people a year attempt to climb this mtn.

We visited beautiful downtown Talkeetna, town of about 800

mostly vendors selling their wares to us tourists. The town is an aviation and supply base for Mount McKinley climbing expedition so we met many young hikers and climbers who were setting out

to the challenge of McKinley.

Flowers everywhere. These beautiful pansy like flowers

really caught my eye.

The Museum of Alaska Transportation and Industry has

historic aircraft, railroad equipment, farm machinery and heavy equipment. We climbed all over the train and even rode in the caboose.

Dick especially liked the tractor displays. Again he's exhibiting those farm tendencies. I'm glad he didn't get out his overalls.
